Charities

This year my sister and I received a letter from Children International asking us if we wanted to sponsor a child.
After discussing it for a while, we thought it would be a great idea. It is only 12 dollars a month, and the child gets 40 cents a day. My sister and I have been selling golf balls to get the money ready. Just
recently we received another letter from the Children’s international
letting us know about our child, Carlos.
Sponsoring a child gives you a good feeling so all you have to do is contact the Children’s International to
get that feeling.

Big Air Camp

My sister and I went to a big air camp this summer. We had to drive for 15 hours because our dad wanted to go on the looniest rode in America. I 50!

At big air camp, you go off things called water ramps. The in run is made out of little spike things that you wet down to make you go faster. After you take off the jump and do your trick, you land in a swimming pool that has bubbles so you don’t hurt your neck or back.

The day starts out with an hour or two on the trampoline so you practice your tricks before you even get wet. They even have a harness set up so if your not sure about your tricks on the tramp, all you have to do is buckle up. I think this camp could be very beneficial to any person who has the desire to learn how to jump well. It was an awesome experience!

     Hard Work       Pays Off!

Ever since I have been six I have been playing the violin. My mom has taken a video of every lesson that I have gone to for seven years. Each year has been the same; I go to the lesson every week and go home to practice hard. Once every two weeks my teacher has all of her students get together and play some fun songs. I started in group one and now I am in group three. About three times a year I participate in recitals and still get nervous.

This year I auditioned for the Reno Philharmonic Youth Orchestra in September. I received a call a few days later confirming that I was to play in the symphony! I was thrilled. The seven years of hard work had paid off.

   Money Made Easy

Are you a kid who gets
allowance for taking out the garbage or feeding the dog? Well here is a different idea to make a little extra cash to pay for a charity or buying a present for a family member.
My brother and I came up with an idea of a golf ball stand. I don’t have to pay any money for the supplies I need. All we had to do is get a piece of cardboard and some bright crayons that would catch the golfers eye.
Since we live on a course we could just go find golf balls and then clean them. I don’t want to stand out there all day so I  put a sign by the golf balls that said "honesty can".
After I decided on the prices I opened the golf ball stand. Each morning my brother and I set up the balls on the beach chair down on the golf course, and we tie the sign too the railing on our deck. Every day at twilight we reverse these steps.

It does not take a genius to make some money, just a little creativity. Maybe where you live could help decide what shop you open. Let’s say you live on a river. You could sell ice cream, lemonade, or even if you live by a bike path you could sell drinks and power bars. Remember that low prices will attract more costumers to buy your products then above average prices. So be
sure to find out what your
competition is!

Good Luck!

   How to Make Your
  Turkey Dinner Shine!

The commotion of having relatives come to dinner is stressful. Now it is that time of year, Thanks-
giving and Christmas are
just around the corner. Do
you just dread the burnt
turkey, or the gravy that
won’t cooperate? This
year there is a clear
solution… make a recipe
that the relatives can’t stop
eating, that is very easy to
make. Sweet Potato Pie
doesn’t have to wait until
dessert. It is guaranteed to
bring a great taste to your
turkey dinner.

How to make it. Buy one yam per person, that is the perfect amount. The first step is to boil and peel the yams. They should be soft and easy to mash. After you
mash the yams put them
in a medium sized
casserole dish. Now the
recipe gets good. You
need Kahlua along with a
pack of marsh mellows
and some maple syrup. To
add even  more flavor, a variety of spices should be
used. Including cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin spice. Yum! Add a quarter of a cup of Kahlua first. Then
according to your taste,
(sweet or very sweet)
add a quarter of a cup to a half of a cup of maple syrup. Don’t forget to add a pinch of each spice, (see above.) Once you have folded the ingredients together so that it has a thick texture, place marsh mellows on the top. Cover the whole mixture with the marsh mellows. Preheat, then cook at 350. Cook until top of marshmellows are a golden brown, which will take approximately twenty
minutes.
