Explorer Rubric

 


By fulfilling these requirements to the best of your ability you can assure yourself a good grade. Rate your performance by inserting a number from 1 – 5 in the spaces on the left.

1 = below average 3 = average 5 = above average

 


         Spelling and Grammar – All words have been spelled correctly and paragraphs have been created using proper grammar.

         Content and Organization – Questions have been answered to the fullest extent and organized in an orderly manner.

         Appearance – The report is typed or written in a neat manner. White lined paper and pen is used if it is hand written. The report should include a title page that would include the following: the explorer’s name, date and student’s name and number.

         Map – The map has included the following requirements:

    • The map is neat and labeled with a sharp marker or pen.
    • It is titled.
    • All continents and oceans are labeled correctly.
    • The country your discoverer sailed for is labeled.
    • The discoverer’s journeys are color coded and labeled in the key by name and date.
  • Extra Credit – The map is colored using colored pencils.

                                  Portrait – The portrait includes the explorer’s name and the date he was alive. It is colored and has a border.

                                 Acrostic Poem – The poem is neatly written and uses vocabulary that relates to the explorer or the    age he lived in.
